Announcing Hillrise Group

Created as an extension of my personal interest in the growing Web3 ecosystem, Hillrise Capital was positioned as a boutique research house. My vision was to take this brand forward as a trusted name into a disruptive emerging industry.

In this post we highlight the inception of Hillrise Capital and introduce our new identity, Hillrise Group.

Like many similar stories, the Hillrise brand was built on my part-time fascination with an ever-changing technological landscape. My endless research of the underlying consensus mechanisms, tokens, and markets culminated in the creation of the Hillrise Capital brand in mid-2019. The latter part of the name was given without any particular meaning, however in preference of not restricting our scope.

My fascination soon became a distraction and some six months after launching Hillrise Capital, I left my position in public accounting. As I learned more and the industry continued to evolve, with it grew my conviction. We onboarded new team members, backed great founders, and continued to build our brand.

As we know, the open and active community is what makes this space so special, and from day one I wanted this ethos to be an important part of our identity. As of today, our Telegram group has grown to over 4,000 members and we’ve had the privilege of welcoming guests from the likes of Hedera Hashgraph, NEAR Protocol, and Plasm Network as part of over 50 AMAs held in the past 12 months.

Research and educational material has remained an important part of our presence. Technology primers, interviews, and infographics are now a mainstay on our blog. All the while we have been active in the primary market, funding driven founders with early-stage venture capital.

Our team has now grown to a fittingly-global group of five. As we have continued to expand, it felt necessary to clarify and not blur the line between our investing and research work.

In doing so, we introduce both Hillrise Ventures and Hillrise Research, two brands nested under our new Hillrise Group. We will use these two brands to remain transparent in our investment strategy and objective in our research.

Hillrise Ventures is the private investment arm of our business, where we support ambitious Web3 startups with early-stage venture capital.

Hillrise Research continues our initial vision, to be a publisher of objective fundamental research and to bring simplicity to complex technology.

We’re optimistic about the future of this industry and look forward to this next chapter.
